Roy Dokka died Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at his home in St. Francisville. He was 59, a native of Bottineau, N.D., and worked for LSU for 30 years. Arrangements are pending with Charlet Funeral Home Inc. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Margie Lou Roach Dokka; two daughters, Kristina Anne Dokka Knight and husband William P. Knight II, of Franklinton, and Saundra Marie Dokka Parfait and husband Chris Parfait, of Baton Rouge; and grandson, William "Trey" Knight III. He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Gudrun Dokka; brother, Arne Dokka; and sister-in-law, Sue Dokka. He graduated from Cal State Northridge with a B.S. and from the University of Southern California, where he attained his master's and doctorate degrees in geology. He was executive director of the Center for GeoInformatics, director of the Louisiana Spatial Reference Center and Fruehan Endowed Professor of Engineering at LSU, Baton Rouge.
