Friends from Zachary, Ezra McHugh and Taylor Norris caught a 40 pound blue catfish in the Mississippi river on Saturday, July 30.
The blue catfish, known as Ictalurus furcatus, is one of the largest species of North American catfish.
Blue catfish are distributed primarily in the Mississippi River and also in the Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee and Arkansas rivers.
They are also the undisputed kings of the North American catfish clan.
Way to go, Ezra and Taylor, on your awesome catch.
